PRADA SPRING/SUMMER 2012 AD

I've been thinking about changing my blog's name to Prada is my boyfriend, because I feel like every single article is a tribute to Miuccia's work.. Just kidding !
Sorry if you guys are fed up with me raving about Prada, but it has come to the point where I'm literally obsessed. Trough the lens of Steven Meisel, this ad embodies the idea of power and positivism, brought by the attitudes of the models and the colourful clothes they're wearing. This is just brilliant.

New in // Prada shoes

Say hello to my new babies !
These are some Prada shoes from the winter collection. I had the choice between a few combinations of colours but I finally chose these ones because I feel like blue is the new black. For a couple of weeks now, I've really been into blue, I have no idea why. I'm craving for blue things just like a pregnant woman would crave for strawberries, it's insane ! As for the price I would say that they weren't cheap but in my opinion it's totally worth it for the quality, the phenomenal craftsmanship.
Do you like them ? What's your latest purchase ?

Trend // Suits

Suits.
Whether classic, modern or colorful, suits have appeared to be one of the major trends for fall 2012. Indeed, most collections presented in Milan and Paris during the past few weeks were composed of suits. Despite its strict and formal connotation, those suits emerged in several forms, each fashion house bringing its own vision of it. The man of fall 2012 is definitely someone who can play with codes, proportions and details. Because in my opinion, suits are all about the little details that make them unique. Over the past few years though, suits were too often associate with a uniform devoid of originality, but the fashion houses proved once more that the possibilities are actually endless.
Down below is a little suitscape I made :

Leather suits (Jil Sander, Agnès B, Hermès)

Following the S&M trend that has been going on for a few months now, it didn't surprise me to see suits made out of leather. In my opinion, these could be worn by someone who's confident in himself, perhaps someone a little bit mysterious. It's a nice way to mix classic (brought by the formal shapes) and rock'n'roll (brought by the darness and the textures). Will you dare ?

Monochromatic suits (Givenchy, Dior Homme, Costume National)

It seems that color block is not close from fading away ! A lot of fashion houses offered us some monochromatic suits that look in my opinion very modern and edgy. I think that these could be worn by someone young who wants to experiment with textures and colours, someone who sees fashion as a game and do not take it too seriously.

Military suits (Dior Homme, Prada, Gucci)

As suits refer to the idea of power and authority, it seemed natural to me that some designers incorporate codes belonging to the military. Whether using highly structured shoulders, khakis declined in infinite shades or double-breasted jackets, these suits give according to me a breakneck pace.

There are definitely more trends going on with suits but these are the ones that caught my attention first. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to include them in your coment !

Iris Van Herpen

Breathtaking.

That's the very first word that came to my mind when I saw Iris Van Herpen Couture collection for Spring Summer 2012. I waited so impatiently for this collection, the last two ones having left me speechless. Iris is one of these rising young and talentuous designers, who's work is absolutely outstanding. I do not think I've been as amazed by a show since the Galliano for Dior era or more recently by Haider Hackermann.
I personally never had the chance, or should I say the honor to attend one of Iris' shows but I'm quiet sure of one thing, it must be very different from the average shows. I kind of see hers such as an incredible experience, a journey into a wondrous and mystical world where Nature and Women are One.
Because I feel that this is the essence of Iris' work, to create sophisticated and blowminding constructions giving the impression it was made by Mother Nature after million years.

I wouldn't call Iris a fashion designer, I'd say she's a magician of architecture. I'm looking forward for her work and bet it's just a matter of time before she becomes big. That's what I call raw talent.
